The Jennings 139A Unix lab is the primary Unix lab at Southern and is located on the first floor of Jennings directly through the doors on the left from Morrill Hall. A MySCSU or Computer Science login ID is required for use of any and all lab equipment and a SCSU student ID required to print to any of this lab's printers. Reference books and manuals pertaining to many popular software packages are available for in-lab use. What follows is a break-down of the lab by hardware, features, and software packages. Representing the primary Unix computer lab at SCSU, JE139A consists of the following PC configurations:

  • 17 Sun UltraSPARC workstations (650mHz w/512MB RAM)
  • 17 18" Sun flat-panel displays
  • 1 22" Sony flat-panel display
  • Solaris 9
  • 1 Sun Fire v480 Server (sirius) with dual 900mHz processors, 4096MB RAM, and 36GB mirrored arrays
  • 1 Sun StorEdge 3310 SCSI array with 865GB capacity
  • 1 Apple Macintosh workstation running the latest version of the BSD-based Mac OS X OS
  • All computers in the Unix lab are equipped with both DVD and floppy drives
