What is MySCSU? In short,
MySCSU is your one stop shop for all of your Southern email,
scheduling, campus news/information, and online collaboration/groups.
Rather than dealing with endless quantities of junk mail from
free email services or paying top-dollar for an online scheduling
service, why not get the same full-featured functionality
by virtue of being student or staff of Southern? MySCSU is
simply the best web-based communication, collaboration, and
scheduling resource available to the campus today. Click any
of the links below to learn more about the exciting functionality
that MySCSU brings to you.

Your MySCSU email account is a full-featured
email service accessible both through a standard web browser
or via any IMAP-compatible email application (see the Help
Desk section for configuration info). Auto-forwarding,
auto-replies, message filtering/blocking, and even the ability
to collect mail from other email accounts are all possible
using your MySCSU email account. Moreover, MySCSU email accounts
offers 2-50 times more storage capacity than other
(free) email providers such as Hotmail or Yahoo that you may
be using now. MySCSU email quotas are currently set to:
Student |
|
Staff |
10 megabytes |
|
100 megabytes |
Note: 10 megabytes of network file
space is available to every staff member and student for the
purposes
of publishing
personal
web pages or transferring/storing data files. See the Other
section of the technologies page for more
information. |

Perhaps the most useful of the functions of MySCSU is the
great calendar and scheduling features available to you.
Rather than just one calendar to add all of your commitments
to (work, school, etc), MySCSU offers you the ability
to both create (yourself) and subscribe
to (from others) any number of different calendars for
any number of distinct purposes. |
So what does that mean? What
exactly can MySCSU
calendar do for you?
As a student, you may currently enter
in each of your courses and create a custom schedule of classes
at
the start of each
semester. But why bother? MySCSU has already done it for you!
Every course you enroll in at SCSU is automatically added
as an unique calendar
selection
available to you under the Current Calendar menu.
Even better is what you can do by grouping
individual calendars together. For example, say you want to
print out one calendar with all of your classes, but each
of your class schedules is listed in a different calendar.
The solution to this is to merely create a calendar grouping
of all of your current courses. Best of all, you can do this
in 3 quick steps:
- Click the Groups tab within the MySCSU Calendar
section.
- Select and add which classes/calendars you want put in
this group
(click "OK" in the lower-right corner to save).
- Select the name of the group in your list of calendar groupings
to view a combined schedule of all of your currently
enrolled courses

And it doesn't stop there... perhaps you also want to:
- Automatically send out email invitations to all your friends
about upcoming events
- Share
your
schedule
with everyone in your Stats class
- Create an entirely
new group calendar
that
several
people can contribute to and access from any computer
in the world
It's all possible (and easy) with your
MySCSU calendar!
Check out the MySCSU Help pages for details on how to get started.
