| If you have ever found yourself at the end of a three hour
writing session when you find out that your floppy disk has
jammed or otherwise rendered itself unusable you can immediately
appreciate the obvious need for a better method of file backup
and transport than is available using traditional (unreliable)
removable disk media. |

Network
file and web space is a combination of the
technologies involved in the MySCSU web portal and the universal
login functionality
mentioned
above. Expected to arrive sometime in 2004 or later, network
file and web space provides you with a "virtual floppy" drive
space equivalent to approximately floppy
disks eight floppy disks (10 megabytes) which automatically
appears on any publically-accessible campus computer you log
into. You can use your network file/web space for both transporting
or
backing
up
files as
well as publishing your own web site. And since your files
reside securely on a remote computer, there is
no concern over losing,
damaging, or forgetting your files at home. Anytime, anywhere
you are on campus so are you files, quickly and reliably.
