WebCT* is a web based course management system, which is available to faculty and students in their courses.  WebCT provides a variety of tools, including synchronous and asynchronous communications facilities, such as chat, threaded discussion, and email.  It also provides the ability to post course content in a variety of formats such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, HTML or even full multimedia presentations.  Built in tools such as the course syllabus and course calendar assist in keeping students informed of course requirements and other information.

By using WebCT, we feel that in the future that students and faculty should find a consistent look-and-feel when they access any SCSU web-based component of instruction. Since different faculty have different learning objectives for their courses and different needs within the delivery of their courses, freedom to chose a particular tool and the look-and-feel of the web-based aspects of their teaching must be respected and maintained.
