The primary function of ETAC would be to recommend the technology-related
needs, resource requirements, and initiatives of academic units for
the purpose of supporting executive decision-making.
Toward this end, ETAC is charged with:
-
Becoming knowledgeable about the scope of academic computing applications
and technology employed by campus organizations.
- Making
recommendations on the efficacy of Information Technology support
systems used by campus units – including hardware, software,
networking, data structures, and management information systems
(including Banner).
-
Suggesting priorities for Academic Computing projects and initiatives
such as Technology (SMART) Classroom, Faculty Technology Resource
Center (FTRC), Faculty/Student Portals and Adaptive Technology
etc. Such as:
-
Long-range plans for academic and instructional computing
for the University.
-
Instructional technology needs of the faculty and students.
-
Formal and informal opportunities for faculty development
in the area of teaching, learning and technology.
-
On-going University initiatives regarding classroom design
and upgrade.
The
committee’s membership shall be comprised of representatives
from all five schools, Faculty Senate Technology Subcommittee, Office
of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Administration and Finance,
and University Relations. The CIO, after consulting with the Vice
President of Academic Affairs, will appoint the Chair of ETAC.
Recognizing that no technology initiative or system is stand-alone,
the committee will encourage critical discourse that focuses on
the best interests of the University as a whole.
